Terraluna(Terraformed Moon)

Recently I started this thing about terraforming, which is making an uninhabitable planet - like say Mars or our Moon - inhabitable. (However, terraform is not an already Earth-like planet, it means a planet that has become such because of technological tampering, witch humans haven't done yet) I have so far terraformed Mars and now our Moon - in blender.

Although incomplete (especially the clouds) I like the out come so far. I did this - with a few tips from Andrew Price's Earth Tutorial - by first adding a sphere, and then taking a map of the moon I found on the NASA site, and found a black and white elevation map of the moon, which I used as a bump map for the sphere. Then I made a water material and using the material nodes, I used the bump map to isolate where the land meets the water. Then I copied the Moon material and using different cloud textures turned it dirt-brown and green. and, once again using material nodes, combined the original Moon material with the brown and green one. and then made a material for the clouds and added it again with material nodes.(witch is one way where my technique differs from Andrew,s) And then added the atmosphere the way Andrew did,(and of course don't forget the sun!) and voila! You have a terraformed Moon, Terraluna!

The clouds are still not quite satisfactory, and I have a few things I wanna fix here and there, but I like the result so far and and just thought I'd share.

So by for now, thanks for reading, and comments are more then welcome! :D

It's been a heck of a long time since my first/first post! I guess I just sorta for got about this. Anyway, I'm back, with some blender stuff. The first is of a project I've been working, it's called "GANYMEDE: Journey to The Planet". It's the story about a man and his son who traveled from another planet from the future.(mostly due to the death of his wife and a war happening in the part of the galaxy his planet his planet inhabited) The story starts about April/May of 2001, just a few months before the 9/11 thing. Weston Starhill, the main character, was a professor where he came from, but is a bit absent-minded, so he came back to the planet of his ancestry to about the year 1995, not realizing that he would soon be seeing the same things happening, as he did on his planet,(wars and stuff, as i mentioned the 9/11) if even just be TV and such, he just couldn't bare it. And he can't return to his own, or another, time. ANYWAY, to make a long story short, he gits the idea from his son to build a rocket(using future technology) to go to the moon of Jupiter, Ganymede - hence the title - to escape...

So these are some shots from the opening scene in the animation. It's a flashback of Weston's, showing where he came from:

Kastro, a gas giant in Weston's solar system.

Weston's planet of berth Manu, and the part of the war happening in space.(still some things to do to this scene)

There are some kinks to take out, I know. Since I rendered these images II've seen better ways to give the impression of a flashback.

And Just another render. This is a render I made a few months ago, but decided to mane Anaglyphic(Wikipedia Page) version of the image, after seeing this great tutorial. Get your 3D glasses out! :D

Anyway, I can't say when I'll post again, as much of the time there's stuff in real life that is more important. Thanks for reading! :-)

My First Blog!

I love drawing creatures I come up with for planets I've made. I have so far made at least eight planets, and I estimate I have made at least two hundred creatures. But how and when did it all get started?

Well, my mom says 'I never scribbled,' that I 'just drew pictures'. So I guess I just always had a little of a talent for drawing, I think I get that from my dad's side of the family. But as I got a little older, and as my drawing skills improved a little, I started wondering if there were other planets with life out there. then I started making drawings of what I thought might be out there.
Example of one of my old drawings
As time went on the creatures just kept coming and coming, soon - as I mentioned before - I had about eight planets, each with there own set of creatures.
Here are some of the planets and creatures I've made:

W1(temporary name)
Considered the most earth-like planet(As far as the fauna), "W1" has many creatures that resemble earth's animals, particularly the mammals.
Probosi-Leo a deinotherium-like carnivore.

"the mollusk planet"
Yet to be named, the "mollusk planet" is a planet that I based on mollusks, whitch are animals such as octopuses, snails, slugs, and oysters.

Natere
The home of the Mara-Faghia, the first known space travelers.(I will have a blog with information about the Mara-Faghia)

Thank you for reading this first of my blog, hopefully of many to come!
